Ocean’s Edge

Softcover Accordion Book by Carolyn Norton

I was relaxing on a beach when I noticed that, on this particular day, in this particular place, the angle and force of the waves hitting the beach were creating unusually interesting shapes in the breaks. Of course I had to start photographing. I captured compositions that freeze something we usually experience in real time as a fleeting moment.

I chose to use black and white images to emphasize the shapes and a small scale-book format to force a micro look into a macro event.
